On March 2nd most years, I write a short tribute piece in anapestic tetrameter to honor my all-time favorite author, Dr. Seuss. A few years ago, it lined up with the movie release of The Shack, a story of deep healing that I loved, so it carried that theme. Enjoy . . .

“The Ludicrous Lover”
The Universe knew of you
long before time,
Long before creatures,
contagions and crime.
Way before anything
ever existed,
You were the DREAM
of a Love that consisted
of Beauty and Passion
and Freedom and Grace,
of Laughter and Joy
at the thought of your face.
You melted the heart
of a Ludicrous Lover,
Fanatical Friend –
you, His gem to uncover.

You came into being,
a child of the Light
But darkness swept in
and your soul felt its fright
The freaks and the frizzles,
they frazzled your soul,
The shrieks and the shrizzles,
they swallowed you whole.
But Love is a Warrior,
and you were Its prize
Love raged against darkness,
deception and lies
Explosion of Light,
left a glow that persisted
The ocean of night
simply could not resist it.
As Light floods your eyes,
Love can show you its scope,
Of healing and wholeness
and heavenly hope. . .
The Ludicrous Lover,
awaits now His chance,
His eyes bid you come
to be part of His Dance.
