Brave New World

Some readers will remember that in 2016 we put out a series called Cold Civil War leading up to the U.S. elections of that year. Movies are the one of the main forms of storytelling today, and it is through symbolic storytelling – parables – that Jesus gave some of his most powerful messages. We believe Jesus is still speaking in this way today. On that note, starting in the mid 2010s, a prophetic message emerged through the Marvel films. We covered a good chunk of this in Cold Civil War; however, much has happened since then and we want to give a significant update. Please note that while a lot of this focuses on American politics, the most important part of the message transcends the political sphere and speaks to a much larger story.

The Marvel Avengers Saga: A Prophetic Allegory for America

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is more than just a collection of superhero films; it is a cultural phenomenon that has captivated audiences worldwide. However, upon deeper analysis, the Avengers storyline—especially from Captain America: Civil War (2016) to Endgame (2019)—presents a prophetic reflection of America’s political landscape.

In this allegory, Captain America (Steve Rogers) can symbolize the movement behind Donald Trump and his America-first policies, while Iron Man (Tony Stark) represents the Democrats, particularly figures like Elon Musk, who have since shifted political alignments. Their ideological clash in Civil War mirrors the deep division in America, but their eventual reconciliation in Endgame foreshadows an emerging alliance against a greater evil: global corruption, Marxist ideologies, and the erosion of freedom.

Civil War: The Split of a Nation

In Captain America: Civil War, the Avengers face an internal rift over the “Sokovia Accords,” a government mandate demanding accountability and oversight for superheroes. Captain America refuses to submit, believing in personal liberty and sovereignty, while Iron Man supports the Accords, prioritizing collective security over individual autonomy.

This dynamic closely mirrors the political divide in America, particularly during and after the 2016 presidential election. Captain America’s stance reflects the ethos of Donald Trump and the populist movement—resisting globalist control and advocating for national sovereignty. Meanwhile, Iron Man represents the establishment, favoring centralized power, regulations, and elite oversight.

Much like in Civil War, where Cap and his allies were vilified for resisting government control, Trump and his supporters were labeled as nationalists, isolationists, and a threat to democracy. Iron Man, on the other hand, though well-intentioned, aligned with the bureaucratic machine and sought compromise with an intrusive authority.

The Winter Soldier and the Hidden Threat of Marxism

A quick word about the film that preceded Civil War… The movie Captain America: Winter Soldier introduced a chilling revelation: Hydra, an evil organization from the Nazi era thought to be defeated, has infiltrated the nation, operating in the shadows through digital networks and bureaucratic control. This is a striking parallel to how ideologies like communism, once believed to be vanquished after the Cold War, have subtly infiltrated Western institutions.

Cultural Marxism has crept into education, government, media, and corporate structures, slowly eroding foundational principles like free speech and individual liberties. The idea of an unseen enemy manipulating society from within, as depicted in The Winter Soldier, mirrors how ideological subversion has gradually reshaped American values without an outright revolution. Such was the goal of Marxism from the beginning.

Interestingly, the Winter Soldier himself, Bucky Barnes, is another figure that can be compared to those fighting against these things. Initially seen as a villain, misunderstood, and vilified by the establishment, he is later revealed to be a victim of manipulation. Just as Bucky was framed and hunted despite his true intentions, advocates for freedom have been relentlessly attacked and often misrepresented by mainstream narratives. In the end, the Winter Soldier proves himself to be a force for good, much like the policies and movement that have aimed to restore national sovereignty and challenge entrenched corruption.

The Fallout: America’s Civil War Continues

Now the aftermath of Civil War left the Avengers fractured, much like the political and cultural divisions in the U.S. following 2016. The government pursued Captain America and his allies, much like the political establishment and media targeted Trump and his base. The deep state, big tech, and corporate elites acted as the MCU’s world government—trying to control, censor, and even eliminate opposition.

Meanwhile, Iron Man, despite his initial stance, started to realize that the forces he aligned with were not as noble as they seemed. This mirrors figures like Elon Musk and others in Silicon Valley, who initially supported progressive causes but have since grown disillusioned with the rising authoritarianism within their ranks. The same goes with people like Tulsi Gabbard and Robert F. Kennedy, longtime Democrats who have now partnered with Trump for a purpose bigger than their initial platform.

Thanos and the Real Enemy: The Rise of an Authoritarian Threat

The introduction of Thanos in Infinity War and Endgame brings the true existential crisis into focus. Thanos is a tyrant who seeks to impose his version of balance on the universe by eliminating half of all life. He is the embodiment of authoritarian control, deciding for the masses what is best rather than allowing free will. (He is also an image of the broken Calvinistic God who chooses some for salvation and some for hell. We have covered this connection elsewhere.)

Thanos’s ideology eerily parallels the rise of modern globalist movements, Marxist ideologies, and authoritarian governance (and religious legalism)—where a ruling elite decides the fate of the masses under the guise of “equity” and “sustainability.” Concepts like the Great Reset, social credit systems, and radical climate policies echo Thanos’s mindset: imposing top-down control in pursuit of a so-called greater good.

As the world faces increasing government overreach, surveillance, and censorship, the battle against Thanos reflects the broader struggle against these forces. In Endgame, the surviving Avengers must set aside their differences and unite against this existential threat—just as America must now come together to preserve liberty against encroaching tyranny.

The Reconciliation: Captain America and Iron Man Unite

One of the most poignant moments in Endgame is the reconciliation between Captain America and Iron Man. After years of division, they recognize that their past conflicts pale in comparison to the true enemy. Iron Man, in particular, has a moment where he literally spins out of control and passes out. In many ways, people like Gabbard and Kennedy have seen things spin out of control and have come into a new partnership with freedom-focused policies. This moment mirrors the current shift in America, where former political opponents—like Trump supporters and figures like Elon Musk—are beginning to find common ground.

It is incredible to note that there is a five year period between the storyline of Infinity War and Endgame. In Infinity War, Thanos literally “snaps” his finger and shuts down half of the universe. After five years, once Captain America and Iron Man unite, this act of destruction is reversed….you could even say “redeemed.” Everything Thanos meant for harm is turned around for a greater good.

Such is the story of the five year delay between 2020 and 2025. In 2020, Covid was unleashed on the nations, literally shutting down more than half the world’s population in quarantines and lockdowns. The economy tanked and the elections were greatly impacted. We won’t get into all those details here. Suffice it to say, we are now moving into a season of great redemption. Everything taken from the past season is being restored. (In fact, if it wasn’t for Covid happening and other tragic outcomes of 2020, we would not be where we are today.)

The Final Battle: The Fight for America’s Future

The climactic battle in Endgame represents the struggle America now faces. When Captain America tightens his shield and faces Thanos’s army alone, it is a symbolic moment of resilience—one reminiscent of the current battle against the political establishment and corrupt media machine. But just as it seems hopeless in the movie, reinforcements arrive.

This mirrors how unlikely alliances are now forming in America’s political landscape. Figures who were once at odds—conservatives, moderates, and even former liberals—are uniting against a common adversary: global corruption, radical leftist policies, and the erosion of constitutional freedoms.

A New Beginning: America’s Post-Endgame Era

At the end of Endgame, Captain America passes his shield to a new generation, symbolizing a transition of leadership. This represents the future of America—where new leaders, informed by the lessons of the past, must take up the mantle of freedom.

The reconciliation of Captain America and Iron Man shows that division, though painful, is not insurmountable. The real battle is not between left and right, but between freedom and control. As America faces increasing globalist pressures, economic instability, and cultural upheaval, the MCU’s storyline serves as a powerful allegory: unity, resilience, and a willingness to challenge corruption are the keys to victory.

In 2025, we are entering the season that can be described by the title of the most recent Marvel film that was just released in February… Brave New World. This is the next part of the saga where we see new leadership arise. At the time of writing, I have not yet seen this film. Once I do, I’m sure there will be a Part 2 to this article. But whatever that movie entails, I believe something greater is happening than the transformation of our political landscape.

There is a spiritual shift occurring, one that will involve a call to greater unity amongst the Body of Christ. This is centered around the communion table and the ultimate sacrifice of Christ himself. In Endgame, it was an act of sacrifice that ended up winning the day. Iron Man lays down his life to reverse what Thanos had done.

So it will be a revelation of Christ and him crucified that wins the day for humanity. This is the true message that reverses the snap of death, injustice, and control. Through Christ’s sacrifice, we are truly entering a brave new world as we begin to recover everything that’s been taken by the enemy.
