The New Bus Monthly: May 2021

The New Bus Monthly is a Gospel-centric, prophetic look at some different happenings throughout the world…

Freedom Album

On Easter Sunday of 2021, one of the world’s bestselling music artists, Justin Bieber, released an album called Freedom. We wanted to highlight something about this release; particularly something said by a guest rap artist. On the second track, rapper Brandon Love states this: “I’m co-crucified, buried, resurrected and perfected in the Son of God.”  It is absolutely beautiful that a statement about our union with Christ (and our “perfected” nature in Him) is being heralded on an album belonging to one of the most influential artists in the younger generation. We have no interest in making a big deal about a celebrity; however, it is wonderful to *celebrate* the fact that the message of co-crucifixion and union is gaining more and more momentum throughout the world. (And it’s still only in its earliest stages.)

Harvest Rock Church at the Supreme Court

A dear friend of our ministry, Pastor Che Ahn from Harvest Rock Church, is making national media attention after a huge victory at the Supreme Court. Pastor Che filed a lawsuit against the Governor of California for overly restrictive conditions on public worship, and the suit went all the way to the highest court in the country. For those who were interested in learning more, here’s the full story.

The Chinese Church

Some of our readers will know that in the weeks preceding the outbreak of Covid-19 in Wuhan, there was a massive increase of persecution against the underground church in China. While we want to be careful about drawing conclusions from circumstances like these, we recognize that a free and growing (and healthy) church is vital to the health and prosperity of a nation. In recent weeks, persecution has continued to ramp up with a recent forced closure of a large Christian community in the nation’s capital. This is a reminder for our readers to continue to pray for our brothers and sisters in China.
